About

Tommy Ingberg is a Swedish photographer and visual artist born in 1980 in Gävle, Sweden, who now resides in Nyköping, south of Stockholm. Originally trained as a computer engineer, Ingberg initially pursued a conventional career before experiencing a personal crisis in his late twenties that redirected him toward art. He began his photographic journey at age 15 with an analogue Praktica camera and spent years experimenting with traditional photography before transitioning to digital media around 2010. Ingberg's artistic breakthrough came with his *Reality Rearranged* series in 2012, which established his distinctive approach to surreal photo montages. His work explores the human psyche, emotions, and the subconscious through minimalistic, monochromatic compositions that blend photography with digital image editing. He describes his practice as a form of therapy, using his own inner life, thoughts, and feelings as seeds for creating enigmatic yet relatable visual narratives that invite viewers into personal reflection. Over the past decade, Ingberg has achieved significant international recognition, winning over 30 awards and having his work represented in prestigious collections worldwide, including the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris and the National Museum of Photography in Colombia. His practice exemplifies contemporary surrealism through its conceptual depth, technical precision, and emotional authenticity.
