About

Tina Yu is a Chinese-born, New York-based contemporary sculptor and artist specializing in surreal, fantastical creatures that blend cute and creepy aesthetics. Raised in China, she attended weekend art classes as a child, learning still life painting and photorealistic pencil drawing, before moving to New York City for college. She earned a BFA in Communication Design (also referred to as Graphic Design) from Pratt Institute in 2016. During her studies, she developed a passion for sculpting, influenced by childhood interests like Barbie dolls and ball-jointed dolls, leading her to become a freelance artist immediately after graduation.
