About

Wu Tien-Chang is a Taiwanese contemporary artist born in 1956 in Changhua, Taiwan, where he lives and works in Taipei. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Chinese Culture University in 1980. Renowned for his surreal photographic works that blend painting, photography, theater, and performance, Wu explores the contradictions of the photographic medium, Taiwan's complex history, culture, sociopolitics, and identity. He creates elaborate staged sets with costumes, props, and backdrops, directing actors and digitally manipulating images to produce theatrical, painterly scenes that are haunting and steeped in photographic theory.[2][3][4]
