Classical Surrealism PaintingLithography
About
Theo Gerber (1928–1997) was a Swiss painter born in Thun, Switzerland, known for his fantastic, surreal, and detailed worlds that blend surrealism, neo-romanticism, and elements of science fiction. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Basel and began exhibiting in Switzerland in 1952. In 1965, he moved to Paris, where his work aligned with the Figuration Narrative movement, and he contributed lithographs to the Situationist Times journal. Gerber lived in France after 1962, rejecting commercial gallery pressures to maintain artistic freedom, which kept him largely unknown in Switzerland during his lifetime.
