About

Stéphanie Kilgast is a contemporary French sculptor, painter, and illustrator born in 1985 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and currently residing in Vannes, France. She holds a Master's degree in Architecture but is primarily self-taught in art. Kilgast initially gained recognition for her hyperrealistic miniature food sculptures made from polymer clay, which she began creating again in 2007 after making them as a child for dolls. She also authored the book 'Miniature Food Tutorial Book – Party Food in Miniature' and shared tutorials on platforms like Skillshare. In 2014, influenced by concerns about meat production's environmental impact, she shifted towards vegetarianism and veganism, leading to a 2015 challenge of sculpting daily miniature vegetables and fruits to promote plant-based eating.

Contemporary surrealism with hyperrealistic organic forms on discarded objects, evoking a cheerful post-apocalyptic biodiversity and nature's resilience.
