Sofia Crespo is an Argentine visual artist based in Lisbon, Portugal, renowned for her pioneering work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biology. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she explores how organic life employs artificial mechanisms to simulate and evolve, viewing technology as a biased product of biological creators rather than a separate entity. Crespo co-founded the Entangled Others studio with Norwegian artist Feileacan Kirkbride McCormick, through which they create projects like Neural Zoo (2018–2020), Artificial Natural History (2020–2023), and Beneath the Neural Waves, challenging distinctions between the artificial and organic.
