About

Eric Althin is a Brooklyn-based character and toy designer who created the Sad Salesman brand in 2017. He is a lifelong character enthusiast and toy collector who began with He-Man and Star Wars figures in childhood before transitioning to designer toys and sofubi. Althin hand-crafts original sculptures using epoxy clay and produces collectible vinyl toys and resin art pieces, with his Sad Salesman mascot becoming his signature brand identity. Althin's work centers on creating quirky, personable characters that embody a blend of charm and melancholy. He believes there is a little sad salesman in everyone, a philosophy that drives his character designs. His creations have been featured in numerous group exhibitions and solo shows, including international exhibitions such as the 'On The Edge' solo exhibition at Boxday Gallery in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 2022. His work spans multiple mediums including hand-made resin figures, vinyl toys, and merchandise.
