Ruby Li is a contemporary oil painter based in Melbourne, Australia, originally from Auckland, New Zealand. She has been drawing throughout her life and began working seriously with oil paints in 2019, drawn to their vibrancy for translating her ideas into visually striking artworks. Her practice blends realism and surrealism, featuring peculiar compositions, exaggerated colors, and detailed subjects in odd environments, often inspired by her personal experiences, travels, and identity as a queer woman of colour relearning her Chinese heritage.
