About

Roby Dwi Antono is a self-taught Indonesian contemporary artist born in 1990 in Ambarawa, Central Java, Indonesia. Growing up in a scenic valley town, he developed an early interest in art during childhood and high school but pursued no formal training. After graduating, he worked as a print technician in an advertising company and later as a book cover illustrator and graphic designer in Yogyakarta, learning design software independently from the internet and books. His entry into the fine art world came in 2012 with a solo exhibition titled 'Imagination' in Yogyakarta, which received strong appreciation and sales, prompting him to resign from commercial work and focus on art full-time. He has since exhibited extensively in Indonesia and internationally, represented by galleries like Galerie Stephanie, SR Galerie, Woaw Gallery, Almine Rech, and Carl Kostyál.

Pop surrealism blending surrealism, classical Renaissance imagery, pop culture icons, and dreamlike scenes featuring wide-eyed children and mythological creatures.
