About

Olga Esther is a Spanish painter and illustrator born in Valencia in 1975 during the final years of Franco's dictatorship. Raised by activist parents involved in the anti-fascist movement, she grew up between the city and a remote farm, developing a love for animals, fantasy, science fiction, and social justice. Initially aspiring to study zoology, she pursued Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where she encountered feminist ideas through Marcela Lagarde's workshops, shaping her personal and artistic life. Scholarships took her to Prague, exposing her to the anti-globalization movement, and Mexico, where she engaged with the Zapatista indigenous caravan. She joined the feminist Malvhada artistic team, experimenting with immersive installations, and co-founded Estan d'Art with Pere Navarro. Her work critiques gender roles through surreal imagery of rebellious princesses, marginalized figures, and symbolic animals, blending childhood tales with rebellion.

Pop surrealism or lowbrow surrealism featuring impossible princesses, feminist critiques, fairy tale symbolism, and animals
