Nicolas Gadbois is a contemporary artist born in Iowa City and raised in Minneapolis, the son of a commercial illustrator. He was introduced to surrealism and pop art as a teenager, influences that shaped his artistic direction. Beginning in the late 1980s, he started painting and exhibiting his work, establishing himself as a multidisciplinary artist working across various mediums and styles. Gadbois is a Kansas City-based artist whose paintings have been exhibited across the United States in both corporate and private collections. His artistic practice encompasses multiple approaches, including abstract work, surrealism, landscape painting, and explorations of American cultural imagery. He holds formal training from Portland State University and Vermont College of Fine Arts, where he earned his MFA in Visual Art.
