About
Nicolas Nadja is a Chicago-based contemporary artist specializing in haunting and surreal oil paintings that depict a world slightly off-kilter, blending elements of the familiar with darker, creepier aspects. His works often feature distorted still lifes, such as veiny-foot vases with sunflowers, headless torsos growing roots, and cubist portraits evoking pain and derangement reminiscent of Francis Bacon, yet grounded in subtle tweaks to reality rather than a fully hellish realm. After earning his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), Nadja founded a small storefront gallery in the city to showcase his art.
