Myriam Tillson
About
Myriam Tillson is a French illustrator and fine artist based in London, UK, specializing in contemporary surrealism, symbolism, and absurdism. Born in France in 1991 to an English-Chinese father and French mother (with a French step-mother), she moved to the UK shortly after turning 18 and has lived in London since. She initially pursued a career in the film industry as a prosthetic make-up artist for about five years, freelancing and taking art commissions during downtimes to supplement income. Her transition to full-time artistry was catalyzed by the success of her 2017 Inktober mental health series, which gained significant traction on social media, enabling her to leave make-up work and focus on creating visual and 3D works inspired by the human body, natural world, classic French and Belgian bandes dessinees, pre-Raphaelite paintings, and contemporary Magical Realism.
Absurdist and surrealist, whimsical and uncanny, exploring human body and natural world motifs with light and dark dichotomies
