About

Marta Corada, known professionally as Mei Mei, is a London-based multidisciplinary artist originally from La Rioja, Spain. Trained in fine arts and photography at the Universities of Salamanca and Barcelona, she initially worked in photography and photomontage before adopting the name Mei Mei in 2016 to mark her transition into creating fantastical wool sculptures. Her practice explores the balance between innocence and darkness, the divine and the animal, incorporating myth, symbolism, and hybrid human-animal forms blended with mythical elements. She collects rare objects and dolls, integrating them into her soft, tactile felted works to create whimsical creatures that highlight contrasts between historical artifacts and warm materials.
