Maura Holden is a self-taught visionary artist born in 1967 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She dropped out of college at eighteen to pursue a life of creativity, hitchhiking, squatting in abandoned buildings, and later working as an exotic dancer for ten years to support her art production. Her work draws from personal experiences in strange dimensions accessed through entheogens, synthesizing interests in geometry, mythology, architecture, and optical effects into detailed, hallucinatory visions of destruction, creation, and surreal creatures using layered transparent colors and techniques inspired by past masters.
