About

Luke Chueh is a Chinese-American artist born to Chinese immigrant parents in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in Fresno, California. He studied graphic design at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, earning a BS in Art & Design with a graphic design concentration. Early in his career, he worked as an in-house designer and illustrator for Ernie Ball, earning awards and features in Communication Arts and Print Magazine design annuals. In 2003, he relocated to Los Angeles, transitioning from design to full-time painting after participating in underground art events like those organized by Cannibal Flowers, which launched his career in the pop surrealism or lowbrow art scene.
