About

Leif Podhajsky is an Australian graphic designer, artist, and art director best known for his distinctive album covers designed for electronic, indie, and psychedelic artists over the past decade. Growing up surrounded by the waterfalls and rainforests of Byron Bay in New South Wales, Podhajsky developed a creative practice deeply rooted in natural systems and phenomena. He has lived in multiple creative hubs including Melbourne, London, and Berlin, establishing himself as a prominent figure in contemporary visual culture. Podhajsky's breakthrough came in 2009 when he emailed Tame Impala offering his services; though initially overlooked, the band's manager discovered his email in their spam folder and commissioned him to design the cover for their seminal 2013 album 'Innerspeaker.' This pivotal project launched a prolific career creating album artwork for critically acclaimed artists including Bonobo, Foals, Lykke Li, Mount Kimbie, Grimes, and The Horrors. Beyond music, his work has been commissioned by major brands such as Nike, Ralph Lauren, Spotify, Sony Music, and SMART Car, while his ethereal video installations have been exhibited at prestigious venues including the Sydney Opera House during the Vivid LIVE festival. Podhajsky's artistic philosophy centers on universal human concepts—love, fear, magic, nature, balance, and connectedness—which he believes speak to people on a deeper level. His work is characterized by the intersection of naturally occurring systems with graphic and technological elements, creating surreal and psychedelic visual experiences that capture the emotional essence of the projects he undertakes.

Abstract, conceptual, psychedelic, and surrealist. Podhajsky's work merges naturally occurring systems, landscapes, and natural phenomena with graphic and technological elements, characterized by vibrant colors, distorted imagery, and cosmic aesthetics that explore themes of nature, emotion, and human connection.
