About

Larysa Bernhardt is a contemporary textile artist based in Blackwell, Missouri, known for creating intricate, embroidered moth sculptures from vintage textiles, appliqué, beading, and embroidery. Her work draws from a deep familial heritage in sewing and textile arts, particularly her Ukrainian background, where she evokes memories of her grandmother's house filled with tapestries, icons, and patched blankets. Transitioning from the fashion industry due to its disposable nature, Bernhardt sought to craft lasting pieces that tell nostalgic, naive stories of shy, night-dwelling creatures inspired by global fabrics carrying scents of coffee, spices, old books, and lavender.
