About

Kyle Thompson is a contemporary surreal photographer born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 11, 1992. He began his photography career at the age of nineteen, inspired by exploring nearby abandoned houses, where he started creating self-portraits using a camera timer. Self-taught with no formal education in photography, Thompson quickly gained international recognition for his haunting, surreal images that blend fantasy and reality, often set in empty forests and abandoned homes. His work explores themes of solitude, self-destruction, loneliness, and ephemeral narratives, frequently featuring himself as the subject in carefully staged scenes that evoke ambiguity and emotional depth.
