About
Kim Slate is an American contemporary artist and animator based in Portland, Oregon. Originally from Eastern Washington, she developed a fascination with creating images from a young age, recognizing their power to capture imagination and elicit emotion. Encouraged in her talents, she studied animation, where images are amplified by storytelling, and applied her skills to feature films, including the award-winning Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio. In her art, she creates sculptures and paintings featuring mysterious and mischievous adventures of ordinary and exotic creatures, each piece suggesting a narrative of scheming, play, or discovery.[1][2]
