About

Katie Barron is a Tasmania-based artist working primarily in oil painting, creating hyper-realistic depictions of everyday objects, nostalgic treats, snacks, and assemblages that explore themes of play, joy, and appreciation for the ordinary. Originally from Canada, she discovered oil painting later in life after pursuing rock climbing and drawing influences from tattoo culture and design-oriented artists in a supportive arts community. She transitioned to professional practice through emerging artist programs and relocated to Tasmania a few years ago, where she has thrived with numerous opportunities, residencies, and exhibitions.
