Katrina Young, known as Kat Young, is an Australian fine artist and illustrator whose work focuses on storytelling through whimsical and nostalgic imagery inspired by personal experiences such as travels in Shinjuku, Japan, everyday moments like dog walks, favorite movies, and battles with chronic illness and motherhood. Starting as a photorealistic graphite artist in her teenage years, she evolved her style subconsciously by absorbing influences from movies, books, music, places, and other art. As an only child frequently moved between schools, she turned to drawing as a solitary activity and social bridge, later prioritizing personal creation for mental health after her daughter's birth four years prior to a 2020 interview, amid struggles with postnatal depression.
