Jon Ching
About
Jon Ching is a self-trained artist born and raised in Kaneohe on the island of O’ahu, Hawai’i, where the natural beauty instilled in him a deep appreciation and respect for nature, profoundly influencing his work. He attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering, but after brief experiences in that field, he pursued his passion for painting, developing his skills independently. Now living and working in Los Angeles, California, Ching creates meticulously rendered oil paintings on wood panels that blend detailed realism with surreal elements, imagining hybrid creatures and symbioses to explore themes of interconnectedness, symbiosis, nature conservation, endangered species, and the balance between human and natural worlds.
Detailed realism blended with magical realism and surrealism, focusing on hybrid creatures and nature's interconnections
