About

Jesús Aguado is a Spanish contemporary surrealist artist born in 1976 in Valladolid, Spain. He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and spent over 20 years working as an illustrator for major publishers including Edelvives, Kumon, Santillana, Anaya, Vicens Vives, Baula, Bruño, Casals, Grimm Press (Taiwan), and National Geographic, as well as for Junta de Castilla y León and Ser Padres Hoy magazine. A fan of comics, he won awards in competitions such as Elgoibar, Tomelloso, Portugalete, and Salamanca. Transitioning to traditional painting around 2017-2018, Aguado blends classical Renaissance techniques with Baroque accents, comics influence, and surrealism, creating symbolic, absurd, and dream-like compositions featuring hybrid human-animal figures, imaginary creatures, and explorations of life's paradoxes where joy and darkness coexist.
