Jennifer Allnutt
About
Jennifer Allnutt is a Brisbane-based Australian artist specializing in dark romanticism, traditional oil painting, and figurative surrealism. She graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (First Class Honours) in 2011 and a Masters of Teaching in 2016. Her introduction to art came through her grandfather, a graphic designer and skilled draftsman, which inspired her preference for hands-on fine art over digital design. During university, she focused on traditional realism and old masters, influenced by illustrators like Arthur Rackham and Sir John Tenniel, while exploring narrative through symbols and compositions. Initially resistant to floral subjects due to associations with hobby art, she later embraced darker palettes, gothic landscapes, and florals following a residency in Queenstown, Tasmania.
