About

Facing antisemitism, David fled Romania in 1942 with 12 other Jewish refugees on a boat to Palestine, but was interned by the British in Cyprus for two years. Upon release, he joined the British Navy, later serving in the Israel Navy and advising on industrial design. Settling in Israel, he co-founded the Ein Hod artists' colony with Marcel Janco, becoming a key figure in Israeli art. His career flourished with iconic tourism posters, El Al interiors, murals for hotels, ships, and exhibitions like Brussels 1958 and Expo 67, blending magical realism, expressionism, and pop art influences. He gained international recognition, exhibiting at documenta III in 1964.
