Jean-Claude Silbermann is a French painter and writer born in Boulogne-Billancourt in 1935. He is recognized as a remarkable figure in French Surrealism, having participated in the activities of the surrealist group associated with André Breton. Silbermann began his artistic career notably in 1962, following the publication of his surrealist poetry collection Au Puits de l'ermite in 1959.
