Ihor Podolchak
About
Ihor Podolchak is a Ukrainian filmmaker, visual artist, graphic artist, director, screenwriter, producer, and curator of contemporary art. Born on April 9, 1962, in Lviv, Ukraine, to a historian/public official father and a journalist mother, he graduated with distinction from the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (now Lviv National Academy of Arts) in 1984, studying interior design and equipment. After military service in the Soviet Border Troops (1984-1985), he worked briefly in the Art Fund of the Union of Artists of Ukraine before becoming a free artist and curator since 1986. He co-founded the Masoch Fund creative association in 1991 with Roman Viktiuk and Ihor Dyurych, organizing provocative art projects in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Germany, the UK, and elsewhere.
Classical painting and graphic techniques including eau-forte, aquatint, engraving, intaglio, blind etching, and dry needle; later multimedia forms like photography, video art, actionism, and performance art
