Gigi Chen

Gigi Chen is a New York-based contemporary surrealist artist born in Guangdong (also referred to as Guang Dong), China, and raised in New York City, specifically in Woodhaven, Queens. She earned a BFA in Traditional Animation from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2004. Early in her career, Chen worked as an artist assistant, learning Old Master techniques, and later as an art conservator in Italy, which deeply influenced her painting style blending animation, cartooning, photo-realism, texture, and design with a focus on storytelling, love, craft, and fun.
