About

Gerlanda di Francia is an Italian contemporary artist born in 1976 in Vibo Valentia, Calabria, in southern Italy. She studied art from childhood, graduating from the local Istituto d'Arte in Vibo Valentia and later attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. After her studies, she ventured into the tattoo industry before founding the HulaHoop collective and dedicating herself fully to painting. She currently divides her time between Rome and her hometown province, employing traditional techniques inspired by ancient frescoes, using thin brushes to layer acrylics on wood panels that absorb the paint, alongside stoneclay and mixed media for sculptures.

Contemporary Surrealism with Surrealist Pop influences, featuring whimsical introspection, fairy tale motifs, and duality of inner shadows
