About

Felix Colgrave is an Australian animator and cartoonist born in Tasmania, raised by former hot-air balloonists in the countryside. He taught himself animation as a child and began publishing independent short films online at age 13, initially under the name Master Aardvark. He studied animation at RMIT University in Melbourne, where his graduation film The Elephant’s Garden won Best Australian Film at the Melbourne International Animation Festival in 2014 and was selected for the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Colgrave is renowned for his surreal, trippy, hand-drawn frame-by-frame animations exploring themes of nature's cruelty, humanity's relationship to the natural world, and hallucinogenic takes on everyday elements, often without dialogue or linear narratives. His YouTube channel has amassed over 170 million views, and he produces work independently, supported by Patreon, while collaborating with his wife through their studio Wombot.
