Erik Thor Sandberg
Contemporary Surrealism Oil painting
About
Erik Thor Sandberg is an American contemporary artist born in 1975 in Quantico, Virginia, known for his oil paintings that blend Magic Realism and Surrealism. Largely self-taught, he developed a passion for art in high school and pursued it in college, focusing on symbolic dialogue through oil on canvas and three-dimensional wood panels. His work explores human identity, vice and virtue, beauty and the grotesque, often depicting nudes in narrative scenes of chaos and fallibility, drawing from masters like Goya, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, Mike Mignola, and Walton Ford.
