Eric Johnston

Contemporary Surrealism Oil painting

About

Eric Johnston is a contemporary surrealist artist based in Northern California who creates paintings that blend academic realism, traditional surrealism, and abstract approaches to explore the subconscious mind and human perception of reality. He received formal training in Fine Arts from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, where he developed a foundation in traditional techniques before evolving into his distinctive surrealist style. Through his artistic practice, Johnston investigates the symbolic nature of consciousness and the way humans perceive their environment during dream states, using his work as a vehicle to connect viewers with their own subconscious experiences and collective human consciousness.
