Elzbieta Zdunek

Contemporary Surrealism Digital collagePhotography

About

Elzbieta “Ela” Zdunek is a Polish collagist, photographer, and writer specializing in digital, predominantly grayscale compositions that evoke surrealism and the aesthetics of silent films. Originally trained as a photographer, her work shifted to collage during the pandemic lockdown, where she began exploring themes of alienation, identity, external judgment, the subjectivity of perspective, and moments of uncertain change influenced by personal history and biases. She captures the quiet paranoia of scrutiny, recurring motifs of cyclical behavior, and the illusion of choice, often using mannequins to portray humanity devoid of it, reflecting patterns from the silent era and historical theater.
