Edith Lebeau
About
Edith Lebeau is a Canadian artist based on the north shore of Montreal, Quebec, where she lives in the countryside surrounded by fields, forest, and a distant horizon. She grew up in Beloeil, a small town in Quebec, and her artistic development was influenced by popular culture, Greek, Roman, and Celtic mythology, movies, and fairytales. Lebeau holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Quebec in Montreal, completed in 2005. She spends much of her time painting in her studio accompanied by her cat named Jack, creating portraits of strong female figures paired with fauna, flora, and symbolic elements like beetles, houses, fire, knitting fabrics, and the ocean to explore mental health themes, insecurities, fears, and emotions.
