Dimitar Gaspar (1938–2022) was a Macedonian painter born in Gevgelija, in the former Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He studied at the School of Art in Skopje and completed his artistic education there before establishing himself as a significant figure in surreal abstraction. Gaspar's work was characterized by surreal dreams and enigmatic symbols that defied conventional artistic norms, earning him recognition in major exhibitions across Europe and the United States during his career. Throughout his artistic practice, Gaspar developed a distinctive style that wove narratives of surreal abstraction through his brushwork. His canvases graced prestigious exhibitions, though he experienced periods of relative obscurity before gaining renewed recognition. Gaspar remained active as an artist across multiple decades, from the 1960s through the 1990s, continuously refining his compositional approach and exploring the depths of surrealist expression.
