Dave McKean, born David Jeff McKean in 1963 in Taplow or Maidenhead, Berkshire, England, is a British artist renowned for his innovative mixed-media approach blending collage, photography, painting, drawing, digital art, sculpture, and found objects. He studied at Berkshire College of Art and Design from 1982 to 1986, where he began working as an illustrator. In 1986, he traveled to New York, met Neil Gaiman, and their collaboration launched his career with works like Violent Cases (1987), Black Orchid (1988), and covers for The Sandman (1989 onward) and Arkham Asylum (1989 with Grant Morrison).[1][2][3][4][6]
