Daniella Batsheva
About
Daniella Batsheva is a contemporary visual artist and self-proclaimed 'Illustrator with a design habit' whose work blends intricate Victorian-era linework, retro punk aesthetics, and horror-inspired imagery with vibrant colors and a dark, whimsical twist. Of Yemeni-Jewish heritage, she grew up embracing horror and spooky themes from an early age, drawing alongside her mother while watching 'Tales from the Crypt' as a ritual starting at age four. Her art explores themes of urban legends, cultural symbolism, femininity, mental health, and recently, the gothic side of Jewish culture, particularly from the Middle East, processed through a lens of humor and naivete from illuminated manuscripts and children's books. She has been compulsively driven to create art since childhood as her primary mode of communication, defying trends like AI art while working across fine art exhibitions and commercial commissions.
