About

Dan Power is an award-winning Canberra-based artist specializing in hyper-detailed illustrations, sculpture, bones, taxidermy, and street art that document the natural world, conservation, and biodiversity in the Anthropocene. With a bachelor's degree in Evolutionary Biology, his self-taught artistic practice since 2014 draws on anatomy, zoology, botany, ecology, and behavioral ecology to create modern natural history illustrations conveying ecological grief, hope, extinction, invasive species, and environmental fragility. Influenced by his childhood fascination with nature and bones, as well as natural historians like Joseph Banks and Ernst Haeckel, Power's work balances wonder with confronting themes like the 2019/2020 Australian bushfires, aiming to foster connections and process environmental anxieties.
