About

Christian Quintin is a French-born contemporary artist known for his surreal and romantic landscapes, born in 1957 in Saint Brieuc, a port town on the northern coast of Brittany, France. He developed an early sensitivity to nature's grandeur amid the region's moody coastlines, cliffs, and ruins, such as L’Île de la Comtesse, which recur as mythic motifs in his work. Quintin studied at the prestigious Beaux Arts Academy in Paris in 1975-1976, where he honed precise draftsmanship and absorbed influences from French Surrealism, Symbolists, and Romantic painters. In 1981, he moved to the United States, settling in San Francisco and later Northern California, where he continues to live and work.
