About
Chris Haas is a self-taught mixed media sculptor based in southwest Colorado, originally from Hays, Kansas. He lives with his family and creates highly technical sculptures by transfiguring ethically-sourced found skulls, replicas, and vintage objects into ornate, unearthly trophies that blend surrealism, nature, and the macabre. His work evokes impermanence, rebirth, and timeless mystique, combining rugged wilderness elements with antique ornateness, using materials like epoxy clay, leather, stone, antlers, glass marbles, and acrylic paint to embellish skulls while preserving an echo of the original creatures.
