About

Charlie Davoli is an Italian-Singaporean digital artist and matte painter born in Singapore on February 18, 1976.[4] At age 6, he relocated to Salento, a small town in Italy's Lecce province, where he was raised.[4] The fusion of these two distinct cultures profoundly shapes his artistic vision, creating a balance reflected in his compositions that blend Eastern and Western sensibilities.[3] Davoli initially pursued music as a performer on the indie scene until 2006, when he transitioned to graphic design and photography.[1] His artistic practice began around 2011 when he started experimenting with Instagram, initially posting ordinary photographs before introducing surreal interferences and digital manipulations.[2] He was nominated as Photoshop's Artist of the Month in 2016.[2] Today, he creates visual paradoxes by merging real environments with surreal disturbances, playing with physics to form dreamlike scenes that challenge viewers' perceptions of reality.[1] Based in Casarano, Lecce, Italy,[2] Davoli collaborates with prestigious brands on personalized projects including large-format prints, advertising campaigns, and musical projects.[1] His work draws inspiration from avant-garde movements including Surrealism, Metaphysics, and Bauhaus rationalist geometry, combined with influences from De Chirico, Warhol, and Lichtenstein.[2][3]

Contemporary Surrealism with retro-futuristic elements; creates visual paradoxes by combining real environments with surreal disturbances, playing with physics and perspective to form dreamlike scenes.
