About
Orozco Romero co-founded key cultural institutions, including the first Gallery of Modern Art at Palacio de Bellas Artes in 1928 with Carlos Mérida, the School of Dance of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, and La Esmeralda art school in 1946. He directed the gallery (1928-1932), taught extensively, mentored artists like Pedro Coronel and Gilberto Aceves Navarro, and served as director of the Museo de Arte Moderno (1962-1964). He exhibited internationally, including the Venice Biennale (1958) and received the National Prize for Science and Art in 1980 before his death in Mexico City in 1984.
