Born in Germany to English parents in 1971, Brad Gray has led a nomadic life, living and working in numerous countries including Ireland, England, Saudi Arabia, Borneo, Colorado, and Sardinia. He studied technical illustration at Brunel Technical College in Bristol for two years and illustration at Falmouth School of Art in Cornwall, graduating around 1992-1994. After graduation, he worked as an illustrator in London through an agency in Covent Garden for about eight years before transitioning to full-time painting around 1995. Gray has been painting since age sixteen, favoring oils and exploring techniques like layered glazes, sanding, and ballpoint pen drawings.
Contemporary surrealism focusing on dualities of life, contradictions, and a world both familiar and otherworldly, with intuitive processes and narrative elements.
