Ben Ryan is an Australian portrait artist based in Sydney, NSW, specializing in oil painting grounded in the classical tradition. He studied at the Julian Ashton Art School and the Florence Academy of Art, and works as both a practicing artist and a teacher of classical painting and drawing at Hamley Studio of Fine Art in Hornsby. Ryan creates commissioned portraits and participates in art prizes, with notable achievements including finalist selections in the Hornsby Art Prize in 2022 and 2023, Highly Commended in the John Copes Portrait Prize in 2022, and Semi-Finalist in other competitions.
