About
Ben Ridgway is a contemporary artist specializing in abstract animations, digital art, sculpture, and virtual reality experiences, often exploring metaphysical themes such as infinity, sacred geometry, fractals, dreams, visions, and hypnagogic imagery. A graduate of the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), he began his career in 1998 as a 3D artist in the video games industry, contributing to projects for Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft consoles, and later producing VR experiences like IO Moon for Oculus Rift. Since the early 1990s, Ridgway has created experimental animations showcased at international film festivals including Sundance, Cannes, Ann Arbor Film Festival, and Anima Mundi, with works published in 'History of Animation' by Maureen Furniss and earning awards like Vimeo Staff Picks for 'Cosmic Flower Unfolding,' 'Tribocycle,' and 'Inner Space Artifacts'.
