Amy Sol
About
Amy Sol, born in 1981, is an American artist of Korean ancestry who spent her childhood in Korea before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, as a young adult, where she currently lives and works. Primarily self-taught, she is associated with the Lowbrow, Pop Surreal, or 'cartoon-tainted abstract surrealism' movement. Her paintings feature young maidens in dream-like natural settings with oversized creatures, exotic landscapes, and a muted pastel palette influenced by folk art, manga, vintage illustration, classical animation, and modern design. She paints on treated wooden panels, integrating the wood grain into her compositions to evoke a sense of the living natural world.
