Alex Kuno
About
Alex Kuno is a contemporary artist and illustrator based in Lowertown, Saint Paul, Minnesota, known for his surreal anatomical illustrations and pop surrealist style that blends grotesque medieval fairy tales with vintage medical and botanical inspirations. He earned a BFA in Studio Art, Painting, and Art History from the University of Minnesota around 1999. After graduation, he moved to New York City, where he created large oil paintings influenced by Renaissance art, before returning to Minnesota in 2005. There, while working in tech support, he developed his signature style through spontaneous drawings that evolved into the Miscreants of Tiny Town series starting in 2007, featuring expressive characters in states of flux amid political, cultural, and environmental themes.
