About

Alex Garant is a Canadian artist born in Quebec City, renowned as the pioneer of Contemporary Figurative Op Art and the inventor of 'Analogue Glitch Art' or 'Optic Pop.' She studied visual arts at Notre-Dame-de-Foy College near Quebec City, graduating in 2001, and subsequently moved to Toronto. Prior to fully committing to art, she pursued diverse careers including clown, nanny, flight attendant, makeup artist, and 15 years in corporate marketing and advertising. A pivotal heart attack in 2012 prompted her to dedicate herself entirely to her passion, blending traditional oil portraiture with graphic elements like patterns, duplication, symmetry, optical illusions, and image superposition to explore themes of human duality, inner identity, and outward persona. Known as the 'Queen of Double Eyes,' her mesmerizing works create visual puzzles that fuse classical techniques with modern glitch aesthetics.[1][2][3][6]
