Alejandro Jesús Obregón Rosės
About
Alejandro Obregón was a Colombian painter, muralist, sculptor, and engraver born in Barcelona, Spain, to a Colombian father. He spent his childhood between Europe and the United States, irregularly attending art classes before settling in Colombia. Obregón opened the doors to artistic modernity in Colombia with his thick, free brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and symbolic depictions of Colombian nature including condors, bulls, barracudas, seas, and landscapes. His work blended European influences like Cubism from Picasso with Andean imagery, addressing political violence such as La Violencia through emotive, symbolic pieces.
Magical expressionism with surrealist and abstract elements, bold brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and symbolic Colombian motifs
